From my before-Christmas-$3-box-of-tricks. A small silver platter. Husband thinks it is silver plate though isn't hallmarked. In service, serving up Her Royal Claudness'es breakfast.

3/52/14 Portrait Project
Fin. Oh-ohh. You can't walk but you can climb?!!! Nothing. Safe.
Claud-Love the faraway look you get in your eyes when your thinking up something funny. (In this instance the knock-knees dance).
Week three with these two little loves in the Portrait Project at Practising Simplicity.

The Tea Towel Dress
I made Claud the Martha Stewart Tea Towel dress for her birthday, in stolen minutes here and there. Except it's the Max Bennett Tea Towel Dress because the Martha Steward dress pattern is in fact infant sized, despite the model standing and looking distinctly toddler-like in the photo. So I improvised. Quietly pleased I finally made Claud an item of clothing. Quietly pleased all the materials, fabric ribbon, buttons, linen tea towel and elastic were all op-shopped.

Clip-Clop: Op-Shop Show-Off; Tuesday Jan 14th, 2014
Claud was gifted this hobby horse recently by it's original owner who was given it as a child by her grandparents who bought it out from a London department store quite a few years ago. Claud imaginatively name it 'pony' and loves it to bits (literally, she chewed the ear, adding to it's, is-it's-eye-missing-or-is-it-winking, long-loved patina.

You are invited...
Dear Blogging Friends, Neighbours, Waimakariri-ans and indeed Cantabrians,
You are cordially
invited to the January Rangiora Food Swap on Sunday January 19th,
2014 at 2pm.
We are a newly
forming social group of home growers and home-made food fans planning to meet
on a monthly basis for a social exchange of home grown, unprocessed garden
produce on a swap-barter basis.
Pre-registration is essential (so I can confidentially tell you where it is, keep an eye on numbers (ever the optimist!) and give you other necessary info)
To register to
attend and/or get further details please email your contact details to: - msmaxbennett@gmail DOTcom.
On the day you
would need to bring your home grown, unprocessed
fruit and vegetables, flowers, plants or seeds to swap, as little or as much as
you like; a little something towards a
shared morning tea, and a small table and chair for your ‘stall’. (We will
have a few tables and chairs available for those not able to transport their
own).
This initial swap
will be in a garden. The rain-postponement date is Sunday 26th
January at 2pm, though we hope to obtain a covered venue in the interim.
Looking forward to seeing you (and eating your stuff!),
Max x

Findlay-Film star good looks down the paddling pool.
Claudine-Awaiting the judge at the sandcastle contest today.
Week one of the 2014 Portrait Project at Practising Simplicity.
Happy New Year to you all. I trust your holidays were stupendous orgies of eating and relaxation, like ours.
I'm having another go at this blogging lark, including the 52 portraits. I may be sporadic. Back on Tuesday with the Op-shop Show-Off though, promise!
