Mantlepiece Monday

Mantlepiece Monday has come around again, yay! This week I'll show you my kitchen mantle. Ta da!

As per last weeks mantle, this one is rarely mucked with, if you disregard the spot at the end where a vase of flowers usual perches, as, as far as we are concerned, this is kitchen mantle perfection. It features the husbands collection of kettles and much as our clutter-hoarding overtakes us it is never allowed to sully this lovely corner. Of course being metal they are also safe from the not infrequent cooking fires I have!
Lovely, loved, but not used, just gazed at lovingly, they are from left to right:-
WMF Art Nouveau; Silver American Art Deco; French Art Nouveau; my favourite one which might be Japanese, approx 1900 (usually found to be containing chocolate he is hiding from me, but sadly empty today); Dutch, Jan Eisenloffel, 1900. Dust bunnies and cobwebs-vintage!

See you next week x

  1. They're really rather lovely, and I do like the idea of a glamorous chocolate stash. The remains of the kids' Easter eggs are currently being hidden under my sink, they've forgotten about them. Actually as today's supposed to hit 31 degrees, I should probably remove them to the fridge.

Think I've said before, but I do like that green shade. Matches your blog and sets the kettles off nicely.

  2. that IS mantel perfection. The jade walls and the timber mantel with those beautiful kettles is something to wow at. So glad to see no cracks in the walls from all the earth quakes you've been having either.

Where to you hunt for your kettles?

  7. Heh heh Lyndel!!!
The dutch kettle was found at Riccarton market which is a big vegges+garage sales type market; I'm pretty sure the silver one he swopped with an antique dealer for a chair and the others were from junk auctions. Helga, thanks, can't wait, I mailed yours Saturday morning so keep your eyes peeled!
The wall is in dulux van gogh green (interior). I'd love some heat and $50 dollar notes heh!!!!
