I'm a Giant Challenge-Dolls House Do-Up #8

Well, it seems the best antidote to too much colour is more colour, with a pattern to boot.

Envelope inner wallpaper; flocked cardstock rug.
I could live here again now, phew!

Might even add some more envelope paper, framed by matchstick picture frames. Will have a play and see.

Gotta think cheap now. Did a tally of costs so far. $251.60 NZ so far. And most materials were op-shopped/second hand and many were free!

Ball chair almost complete. If I don't find a white ball pool ball or some less see thru felt by the end of the challenge this will be it. Quite pleased with it and it's robust.

Luckily the new mini Blythe doll (Littilest Pet Shop Blythe) fits!

New competition-what to call her; and what's her story?

Seriously, I have a new prize for the one that makes me laugh the most...

Home made tulip table to match bought chairs almost complete. Plastic wine glass made a perect base, but the cork top went a bit straggly looking once sanded and sprayed so may be replaced if I find anything smoother looking.

Now to the cute craft cliche suggestions.

                                                                  I've made a a few.

Mini Jan Constantine Union Jack pillow (thanks Lakota)

From a union jack rucksack patch!

Tiny Keep Calm and ...poster (thanks Kylie)

Minute New Zealand map blackboard (thanks me)
Only South Island tho, they didn't have the North Island. Looks a bit weird without it!

Titchy antique map (thanks Carmel)

Wee framed butterflies (the map butterflies don't look that good in miniature)

There aren't any of the suggestions I don't want to do. I've got some packing twine to have a go at macrame-ing a miniature owl (can I get any more mental?!) though I'm still at a loss for how to make a miniature crochet dolly with crinoline-to-hide-toilet-roll, but it will not deafeat me!

Kylie, you have to win! You had a million suggestions all of which made me cackle and want to make them immediatly (I'm still working on the bus destination blackboard thing and the 'home sweet home' cross stitch).

Your cliched cute craft prize will be in the mail shortly :0)

Until next week...

  1. Max, that ball chair is mental in the best possible way. Your dolls house is looking more and more awsome(er) ever time you post new pics.
You've done an amazing job on the tiny crafty cliches. I love them. The little map: Oh. And I love where you've hung the Keep Calm...
I know $250 bucks is alot of cash, but seriously your d.h. is priceless Max.
As for the prize, yay! I didn't even know there was a comp. Posted yours off yesterday (you know what I mean)

  2. Max this post is the one I look forward to most every week you are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! As for your new addition: her name is Anne (with an e) her mother was an Anne of Green Gable's fan (old style barbie) and her father was a cabbage patch doll (judging by the size of her head) being obviously underage there was an intervention and her mother bought her up alone. This lead Anne into some emo angst which is why she wears a lot of makeup and has given her naturally auburn hair an electirc twist. She retains some of her mother's values and has an inner hippy crafter desperate to get out, which you can see in her choice of attire. It also accounts for the fact she is currently living alone - she's never sure which kind of bloke she should be going for..... That's all I got right now!

  3. Your dolls' house is so excellent! So so so excellent!

You must be almost finished now? The tulip table is UNREAL! As is the ball chair.

I've spent a bit on mine too ... dread to think. Mostly on paint. Sad fact of life.

I love how you're so committed to your house. You do the miniature community proud!!

  4. I am loving your mini world so much! do you think that part of you wants to live there? Because I would. Her name is Gwendolyn and her parents were famous authors, tragically killed in a fire whilst on the ghost ride at the fair. Gwendolyn has inherited the huge inheritance and struggles to grow up remaining to stay miniture and live in her miniture house!

  5. This is the best thing EVER! Love that you've made so many craft clichés already and will not breathe until you've macraméd the miniature owl. No pressure mind ;-)

Blythe's real name is Róisín, although she prefers to be known as Roz. She spent her early years touring America with her sisters as the youngest member of a Irish dancing troupe, but developed debilitating bunions and can now only wear Uggs. She broke off contact with her overbearing parents, and has the union jack cushion because she knows it would annoy them. She has an extremely popular make-up channel on YouTube, and has recently got into yarn-bombing.
