I'm always nostalgic for England but i didn't, couldn't celebrate the jubilee in any way, shape or form. The existence of royalty offends me to the core (i'm of servant, labour party stock). I prefer to worship the majesty of nature, and she's been behaving so regally. Her royal Claudness approves.
We couldn't get to the Oxford observatory to watch the transit of venus so we ate chocolate buttons transiting marshmallows with our hot chocolate, and during bouts of defrosting i worked on my braided rug. I'm trying to suss the way to get my
colour joins to blend from row to row.
It's the most amazing bluebird day (hot blue skies with thick powder snow) and were it drivable we'd be at the ski slopes right now-welcome winter!

what a lovely way to spend a day!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love the photo of Claud hugging the snowman. Three snowmen were made here- I'm told they are the two children and dad (I don't get one because I wasn't outside at the time!) Your rug is taking shape beautifully, such a great thing to do on a day like today!
ReplyDeleteHave fun and stay warm!

Cute cute picture of Claude and the snowman. The rug is looking amazing xx
ReplyDeleteRug is coming along very nicely. Do you ever get used to snow and June going together? It seems very odd from up here. Photo's are lovely. Scrummy hot chocolate. x
ReplyDeleteOh what gorgeousness! That wee face under the wooly hat is adorable
ReplyDeleteYou're so clever, intelligence and practical ability in equal measure - not fair!
ReplyDeleteThe rug is looking super neat, the rebel in me thinks it now needs an injection of irregularity and a colour clash.
The world looks beautiful in the photographs, I'm sure the snow has something to do with it, but really, it's that sweet face. Innocence and wonderment personified. Just lovely.

The rug is fabulous, and so is the snowman, and Claud's face!
ReplyDeletePS. I'm so with you on the jubilee crap... xxxx
The rug is looking super, what colours are you going to use next?
ReplyDeleterunning more classes in Oamaru and even thinking of a rug braiding group, too far for you to come I know.
Well done that girl, proud of you
Regards Anne from Tiger Lily
Thank you Anne (braided rug guru!). I'm going to do another row of beige, then one of blue and I think then it will be done for where it's going to go; provided i can figure out how to braid/sew in the it's tail! I will post further photos. And i have plans for at least two further rugs, with slimmer braids and more colour, so I think another course might be quite handy so i can pick your brain...do let me know when/where the courses will be x
