dear Kylie of Lucy Violet Vintage and of Donna of Hung Up on Retro are the organisers of what i would vote linky-of-the-year were there such a thing. not content with rescuing and rehabilitating retro decor and clothing the duo have expanded their attention, towards the dusty abandoned cook book section of their local oppy, to inspire some retro culinary art (of the worst possible kind).
and we were all invited to the party...

i suspect my entry is rather tame. but still the disgust factor is there, the gross colour scheme is there.

hi there you! i have to say, even as a fan of all sweet things, that it was awful. despite Claud's initial enthusiasm she only ate the lolly lights and the rest got biffed after husband tried it and pulled a face!
DeleteTasty! I'm off to bed now but as it's not Saturday for some hours here I'll be getting busy tomorrow. I think I've decided on 'cod in custard sauce'. It's a breakfast dish. Doesn't it sound yummy? I don't think my boys would be put off by green cornflakes at all - I bet it actually tastes ok if you keep your eyes shut?

omg that sounds utterly vile (and therefore perfect!) yes, we should have kept our eyes shut, it was the worst kind of green, what i call seasickness grey-green. i do think some shots of people eating their entries would make it funnier... ;0)

DeleteI was really.impressed....until I saw the close-up! Yours does look more appealing than the original, food colouring has come on leaps and bounds, those sweets almost look plastic!

i spent ages trying to work out how to get the depth of colour the original has (i didn't have a recipe, just a picture) so it remains a tree of mystery!

(a crying shame if it's not, in my opinion) I would never have picked the cornflakes, I thought it was made with spinach (now there's a thought...)
