as kids, once our presents were wrapped and on display, as opposed to not-so-secretly stashed in or behind or on top of mums wardrobe, we were allowed, under supervision, to feel them up. squeezing, shaking, sniffing, holding up to the light and guessing were all permissible. our guesses were neither confirmed nor denied. interfering in any way shape of form with tape or paper was banned. it was a very clever way of helping us cope with the wait...
Cat's advent swap has induced the wait-iest feeling in me since back in those days, and so i coped in the age old way. heres what i got given, and what i thought i got, so far...
1. Kiwi-xmas postcards. 2. crochet ribbon tape. 3. chocolate soap. 4. mini picture frames. 5. mini envelopes
(christmas card) (washi tape) (dairy milk bar) (doll house books) (mini advent calender)
i am so impressed with stellas attention to detail, not just in the beautiful things she illustrates (1. & 5.) but also in how carefully she has chosen things that are very, very me. brilliant fun! thanks hun x
righto, i'm going to try not to be naughty and feel up any more of them now i am in the midst of opening...

1. cutlery customised by moi 2. jurianne matter paper angel decoration 3. a pomegranate 4.snowflake gift tags made by moi 5. a vintage copy of Dickens a christmas carol
...bit useless on the taking photos of what i sent front!

The gifts you sent me are TOO AMAZING! I'm actually a little bit in shock, and a little bit like - "I need to send Max a gigantic thank you present" because my tiny little gifts are in no way equal... *Sigh*, thank you SO MUCH! I have taken some photos, but I'm waiting for a quiet moment to photograph the others that I have opened, and will reveal them today or tomorrow... x
ReplyDeletedont you dare, these presents ROCK! i know what you mean about that feeling though, it feels REALLY good to be spoilt (instead of being the spoilee/spoiler?! as i think we mothers are most of the time) x
DeleteSuch lovely gifts, Max, both received and given. What talented ladies you and Stella are.
ReplyDeleteI remember loving the feeling and squeezing and shaking of presents, all part of the fun! I remember my sister and I rummaging in the bottom of my mum's wardrobe to see what she had bought one year, and deeply regretting it. Lesson learned. WAIT! xxxx
been there. about 6 years ago, opened all my presents on christmas eve. NEVER EVER again, christmas day was such an anticlimax!
DeleteLove the things you got and like me I pretty much took no photos of what I sent. I feel just how Stella does about my swap partner too - Leonie has been so thoughtful and generous.
ReplyDeleteLeave those pressies alone Max! You naughty girl! No more 'feeling them up'!
ReplyDeleteahem *clears throat* your prezzie arrived for me today. i had to open it, you know, just to check it arrived intact. it did. IT's 'effing AWESOME! your a legend (gosh that sounds kiwi, but true!). but i have re-wrapped it and put it under the tree and henceforth will renounce all my prezzie feeling/early unwrapping naughty ways, promise!
DeleteI love seeing what everyone is receiving and I'm loving the anticipation of each days gift ;) I haven't been naughty - I did that in my first advent swap 2 years ago ;( opened them all in one day tut tut tut
