Shell we Bathe? Op-Shop Show-Off: June 4th, 2013

I have a weakness for expensive soap. The made-by-Persian-virgins-from-the milk-of-a-cashmere-goat called-Her-Highness-Frangipani-Princess kind of soap. Alas, you just don't find it in op-shops. My main source is birthdays and other buy-me-stuff celebratory times, though I would really like to learn to make soap myself, once life with a wee babe allows.
This small giant clam shell however, an elegant solution to the perennial problem of how to stop it turning into expensive, infuriating goo, was secondhand (Riccarton Market, free!). It really works, unlike wooden soap trays, plastic soap dishes and the built into the sink ceramic drainer thingy. A few minutes soak in a weak bleach solution gets these stunningly white. Apparently when alive on the reef and of sufficient size, they can grip a divers arm or leg. Had it come with it's lid-shell I might have had a chance at solving the other perennial expensive soap problem; keeping Claud's poky little fingers out of it!
